15-slot Fault-resilient IPC Chassis

IPC-615 Introduction

The IPC-615 is a new 15-slot, 19" rackmount industrial PC chassis which can accept up to 15 ISA/PCI full-length cards. The IPC-615 has a 300-watt power supply with an ultra-high output rating of -12 V. The IPC-615 has a front-accessible disk drive bay that can hold two half-height and one 3.5" storage devices. It also features an advanced fault detection and alarm notification system. The IPC-615 monitors its own hardware status for fan failure and over heating. If a malfunction is detected, an audible alarm will alert users of required maintenance. Problems can be clearly identified through the IPC-615's visible alarm status panel at the front of the unit.

Ultra-high -12 V Output Power Supply
The IPC-615 can be equipped with 110/220 VAC power supply or a -48 VDC power supply. Both units provide an ultra-high output rating on a -12 V supply: @ 5 A for DC power supply and @ 2.5 A for AC power supply. This feature makes the IPC-615 an ideal platform for a wide range of CTI (Computer Telephony Integration) applications, such as a fax-on-demand (FOD) system where a large number of fax/modem cards are used in a single chassis.

Fault Detection and Alarm Notification
The IPC-615 monitors system hardware for fan failure and high temperature within the chassis. Fault conditions are:
  • Fan Failure: If either of the two cooling fans fail
  • Over Temp: If the chassis interior temperature exceeds 65 C (149 F)
Once a problem is detected, an audible alarm will sound and a corresponding LED indicator (located in the front door) changes color from green to red.

Maximized Expansion Capacity
Expansion capability is a key consideration in choosing a suitable CTI (Computer Telephony Integration) platform. Often 10 or more full length cards are required to build a complete CTI server. The IPC-615 is designed for full utilization of the chassis space, to accept up to 15 full-length cards.

Fault Detection and Alarm Notification
  • Fan failure: If either of the two cooling fans fails, an LED alarm changes color from green to red
  • Excess temperature: If the chassis interior temperature exceeds 65 C (149 F), an alarm LED changes color from green to red. The LED remains red until the temperature goes below 60 C
  • Audible alarm: A speaker is activated as soon as a malfunction is detected, and sounds until the alarm reset button is pressed. However, the alarm indicator will stay red until the fault condition is resolved
