MIC-3001
4U 8-slot CompactPCI Enclosure

MIC-3001 Introduction

The MIC-3001/8 is a 4U-size enclosure with eight CompactPCI slots for rack or panel mounting. Its flexible modular design allows users to configure for a variety of different applications. Reserved space can be used to install peripherals such as an alarm module, ATX power supplies, CompactPCI plug-in power modules, or a CD-ROM. It also supports PXI star trigger signals (optional).

Hot-swap Passive Backplane
The 3U-size backplane of the MIC-3001/8 supports 32-bit or 64-bit (optional) operation. The backplane is compliant with the PICMG 2.1 hot-swap specification, "full hot-swap system." Users can build hot-swap systems with hot-swappable CompactPCI boards and software.

Hot-swap Fan Tray Module
A 1U high fan module provides forced cooling air into the system. Two 88-CFM high-speed fans are mounted in a hot-swappable tray directly underneath the card slots. The fan's tachometer output enables the alarm module to monitor the speed of the fans. This design allows users to replace fans safely without turning the system off.

System Fault Detection and Alarm Notification
The MIC-3920 (optional intelligent alarm module) can be installed in the chassis reserved space to monitor and report internal conditions. The system's status, including temperature, power voltage levels and fan speed, can be checked easily from the LED indicators. The serial port connector and relay terminals are located on the enclosure's front panel for easy access. Three relays can be activated by different alarm levels. The alarm module's serial port can communicate via remote host for real time monitoring, module configuration, and alarm reporting.
